How Racing Has Impacted Me!
Since
the first time I drove in 2009 I instantly fell in love. I loved the purr of
the engine and the rush of driving down the straight. At the start I didn't
talk to anyone I was scared to go out of my pit without my mom or dad. I knew
some people but not many. We spent a few nights at the track that year so I got
to know some of the other kids. When the 2010 season rolled around I started in
the rookie class then less than half way through the season I switched to Jr. which
opened up a whole new friend group to me. Half way through the 2010 season I became
really good friends with some of my fellow racers. We started spending more and more nights at the track. This led to becoming
even closer with the adults and kids there. At the end of the 2010 season and beginning or the 2011 season
I met someone who i never knew would end up being my best friend. To this day he is still like a brother to me.
In 2012 I was confident and felt well known at the track. I was able to go around and talk to new people and I even inspired some younger girls to start racing. I had always been very goo friends with all the guys there but as more and more girls started racing and working there I became good friends with them too, and they are now one of my best friends. I feel like the track is somewhere I can express myself, on and off of the race track. The people there are so kind and loving it feels like family to me. Being on the track driving makes me feel invincible and like I can do anything. Racing has helped me become more confident and more social for sure. But one thing I do know is that everyone I have met being involved in racing, are that the friends you meet are there to stay. You spend a whole summer with these people and you all become so close to each other. I consider them not just friends but family. I can't imagine my life without racing.
